How to Export Contacts from Gmail. Gmail allows you to save names, email addresses and phone numbers in Google Contacts. Once you save these contacts, they sync on Google Contacts and you can find them in any Android device you are logged into.
How to Import Contacts
Follow the steps below to import contacts.
- From your computer, go to Gmail.
- Click on the Google Apps Option located at the top right side of the app.
- Scroll down and choose Contacts.
- Click on the Arrow pointing upwards located at the top right side of the pop-up window.
- Choose the format you wish to export the contacts in, either Google CSV, Outlook CSV or Vcard if you are using iOS.
- Then click Export.
How to Import/ Add Contacts
Follow the steps below if you wish to add contacts.
- Go to https://contacts.google.com/.
- At the top right of the screen click on Create Contact.
- Click on Create a Contact or Create Multiple contacts.
- Enter the contacts information.
- To add multiple contacts, click on Create Multiple Contacts
- Add label if you wish or skip the step.
- Click on Import Contacts.
- Choose the file from your computer.
- Click Save.
How to Export Contacts from an Existing Gmail Account
- Go to Google contacts.
- Click on the Export sign which is an arrow pointing upwards located at the top right side of the screen.
- Select which contacts you wish to export.
- Choose Google CSV.
- Click on Export.
- Once you do so, sign out and add the contacts when you sign into your other email address.
- Follow the previous step on how you can add multiple contacts to save in this new account.
How to Stop Automatically Saving Contacts You Email
When you email someone, their details are saved in your contacts if you had not added them. These emails appear next time you want to email them. You can stop these contacts from updating automatically. Follow the steps below to do so:
- From your computer open Gmail.
- At the top right side of the screen click on Settings.
- Choose Create contacts for auto-complete option.
- Click on I’ll add contacts myself.
- Click on Save Changes at the bottom.
