You can close your AOL account anytime you wish to. However, before you do so, you need to be sure that you will lose all your data. When the account is closed, the data like emails and email folders are deleted. You should review all the data in your account and download the details you will need.
Important Information for Account Deletion
AOL provides the following important information as you delete your account.
- Each username on the account should be closed separately.
- You cannot close primary usernames before 30 days elapse after closing the additional usernames.
- An account can only be closed when it has a zero balance and 90 days ended since the subscription was cancelled.
- Usernames that share accounts with another username on the same account and they do not have a unique payment method in the account should be closed first. You can also use a different payment for the account before closing the other account.
How to Delete your AOL Account
Follow the steps below to delete your AOL account.
- Sign into your account and go to the account termination page https://aol.mydashboard.oath.com/delete-my-account.
- Read all the information about terminating an account.
- Follow the on-screen prompts that appear.
How to Recover a Deleted Account
You can recover a deleted account if you log into the account before 30 days elapse. However, this duration is longer in Australia, India or New Zealand with 90 days and Brazil, Hongkong or Taiwan with 180 days. To do so:
- Sign into your account.
- Verify your recovery details and you can continue using the account.
