  1. Go to the https://account.proton.me/signup?currency=EUR sign-up page from your browser.
  2. Choose your preferred username in the Username box. This is the one you will use for your email.
  3. Select your domain either @proton.me or @protonmail.co. The one selected by default is @proton.me.
  4. Fill in a strong password in the Password box. The password should be at least eight characters. 
  5. Type the password again to confirm it. 
  6. Click on Create account
  7. Choose to continue with the free account. However, if you want more features, choose Mail Plus
  8. If asked to confirm if you are human, tick on the I am human option and proceed with the Captcha. You can also choose to do  Email or SMS verification. 
  9. Choose a Display name. However, this step is optional. This is the name people will see whenever you send an email. Then Click Next.
  10. Fill in an optional email address or phone number. These are the details that you can use to recover an account. 
  11. Click on Save Selected or Maybe Later and you can proceed to your Proton account.
